Chinese president leaves St. Petersburg for home

Chinese President Hu Jintao left St. Petersburg, Russia, on Monday night for Beijing, after attending the outreach session of the Group of Eight (G8) summit.

At the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Chinese president attended Monday's meeting, which focused on issues of energy security, infectious diseases and education.

On the sidelines of the summit, Hu had a trilateral meeting with leaders from Russia and India as well as a group meeting with leaders from India, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico and the Republic of Congo.

Hu also had a series of bilateral meetings with some leaders present at the summit. They exchanged views on bilateral relations and world and regional issues.
