Nikkei ends morning nearly 400 points higher

Tokyo stocks jumped Thursday morning, with the key Nikkei index ending the session nearly 400 points higher as U.S. shares rose sharply overnight on the back of receding concerns over further rate hikes in the United States.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 386.62 points, or 2.67 percent, to end the morning at 14,886.88.

The Tokyo Stock Price Index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 44.96 points, or 3.05 percent, to 1, 520.38.
