Chinese Minister of Railways Liu Zhijun talked to a group of non-communist party leaders and non-party-affiliation figures Thursday, about the country's latest achievements in railway construction, especially the remarkable Qinghai-Tibet Railway that was opened to traffic on July 1.
The United Front Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) organized the meeting, which was presided by its director Liu Yandong, who is also a vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Among the 110 audience were prominent non-communist persons including He Luli, Cheng Siwei, Zhou Tienong, Huang Mengfu, Zhang Huaixi, Li Meng, Zhang Meiying and Zhang Rongming.
In his speech, the minister pledged to achieve a world-class management of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
At the end of briefing, the audience watched a model of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, a photo show on the project, and visited the ministry's control center.
At the control center, He Luli, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and chairperson of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, made a phone call to the driver of a train running over the altiplano railway.
