Fraudulent bank voice response unit emerges in HK
font size

Hong Kong Monetary Authority ( HKMA) Friday warned the public not to release their personal information to a fraudulent voice response unit, as one such case was reported by a local bank.

Dah Sing Bank said they found a fraudulent voice response unit which invites their customers to call a certain number to register their account number and the related personal identification number.

The bank issued a press release Friday to clarify that the fake unit has no connection with the Dah Sing Financial Group. They urged the public to do their bank transaction through customer hotline instead of through response unit.

An HKMA spokesman said that the public should be alert to the possibility of similar fraudulent units and should always be careful in giving out personal information.
