Chinese vice president meets his Micronesian counterpart

Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong met in Beijing Friday with Vice President Redley Killion of the Federated States of Micronesia.

Zeng reviewed the development of China-Micronesia ties over the past 17 years, saying that the two countries have enjoyed close cooperation and support on economic and political issues.

"China values friendship with Micronesia and hopes to join efforts with Micronesia to probe economic potential for further cooperation and improve coordination in international and regional issues to push bilateral ties to a higher level based on the principle of equality, mutual benefit and common development," Zeng said.

He also expressed China's appreciation to Micronesia for its firm adherence to the one-China policy.

Killion thanked the Chinese government for its long-term assistance to Micronesia.

He said Micronesia will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China and firmly abide by the one-China policy.
