Zimbabwe has potential to promote ties with RomaniaZimbabwe had the potential to forge even stronger relations with Romania after the latest statistics showed Zimbabwean exports to Romania had registered notable hike, local newspaper The Sunday Mail reported on Sunday. The report said Zimbabwe's trade with Romania had more than doubled in recent years as the African country sought to diversify its export market. The latest statistics displayed a marked increase in Zimbabwe's export to Romania, especially in 2004 when there was a jump from 3,300 U.S. dollars to nearly 100,000 U.S. dollars. Zimbabwe may benefit immensely from Romania which was viewed to possess great potential in mineral fuels, electrical products, plastic and rubber, industrial and agricultural chemicals, fertilizers as well as machinery. The newspaper said diversifying export market and roping in trade partners were believed to be able to improve Zimbabwe's foreign currency receipt whose scarcity continued to affect many sectors of the country's economy. Efforts were also being made to mobilize Zimbabwe's business community to attend the Bucharest International Fair which was scheduled for this October. Zimbabwe's top trade partners also include Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana, the Netherlands, Germany, Namibia, the United States and Zambia. Source: Xinhua |
