Pledge made on stable, peaceful cross-Straits ties
font size

The Chinese mainland is determined to maintain the peaceful and stable development of the cross-Straits ties with Taiwan, despite the complexity of the political situation in the island, which is part of China, a Chinese official said in Los Angeles Sunday.

Li Bingcai, executive deputy director of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), told a gathering of overseas Chinese here that the Chinese Government is always determined to promote economic exchanges and co-operation across the Taiwan Straits and to seek common prosperity of the two sides.

He said the mainland will never withdraw its efforts to work sincerely for the benefits of compatriots in Taiwan.

The Chinese mainland has been consistently sticking to the one-China policy and advocating an ultimate reunification with Taiwan through maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and facilitating a healthy development of cross-Straits ties, Li said.
