Taiwanese investment in Chinese mainland surges

Total investment by Taiwanese businesses in the Chinese mainland reached US$3.55 billion earlier this year, which is 35.21 percent more than in the same period last year and sets a new record, according to data issued by the "Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs".

According to statistics from the Taiwanese authorities, as of June this year, there are 93 projects into which US$680 million has been invested. It is estimated that this year's total investment will break the 2004 record of US$6.94 billion.
