Latin America's economy is experiencing its fourth consecutive year of growth, with an estimated 5 percent rise this year, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) estimated in a report published on Tuesday.

This growth, which is substantially better than the typical performance over the last 25 years, is also much better than the developing world in general.

ECLAC forecasts a 4.5 percent growth for the region in 2007, in line with slowing growth for the world as a whole.

This year, most Latin American countries' economic growth rate will be in a range from 3.5 to 6.5 percent. Exceptions are Argentina, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela which will grow faster than 7.5 percent, and Haiti whose growth rate will be a mere 2.5 percent.
