Nepal's Kathmandu Valley Town Development Committee (KVTDC) has prepared a CD-Rom of the valley's map to help inform people about the Guided Land Development Program (GLDP) of the committee.

The committee is also preparing to upload the map in its official website.

"We have prepared the CD-Rom following complaints from different people that they have faced problems because they were unable to locate the proposed roads of the KVTDC," the member- secretary of the KVTDC Indra Bahadur Shrestha told reporters on Wednesday.

Shrestha said both the CD-Rom and the internet site will be released for the public as soon as the board of the KVTDC approves them.

"Many people unknowingly buy land that lie within the proposed way while others knowingly buy the land and create problems later on," he said.

The government, some 18 years ago, initiated the GLDP to open some 475-km-long inner roads of the valley, out of which some 305 km of roads have already been opened with the "limited annual budget of the committee," according to Shrestha.

Still 170 km of the proposed roads are yet to be opened for which the committee has estimated a budget of 85 million Nepali rupees (1.2 million U.S. dollars).

"The space allocated for the proposed passage in the map of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City has already been occupied," he added.
