China, Caribbean countries hold consultations in Beijing

China and Caribbean countries held their vice foreign minister-level consultations in Beijing on Tuesday and agreed to further pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi hosted the third consultations with his counterparts from the 10 Caribbean nations.

The previous two consultations took place in the UN headquarters in New York in 2002 and in Panama in 2004 respectively.

Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with the diplomats from the Caribbean countries Tuesday, saying the two sides should continue to enhance political mutual trusts, deepen trade cooperation and strengthen coordination on international affairs.

China and the Caribbean countries share extensive common interests and are mutually reliable friends, said Tang.
