A total of 13 foreign countries will participate in the 80th agriculture show to be held in Lusaka from August 3 to 7, Show Society of Zambia President Bill Sanders said here Friday.
The countries that are set to exhibit are Zimbabwe, Ghana, Botswana, Iran, China, Egypt, Burundi, Pakistan, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria.
At a press briefing Sanders said that this year's show is likely to be bigger and more pronounced than last year as respective countries have increased the number of companies exhibiting, adding Zimbabwe has increased its company attendance from 10 to 28.
The show society has so far spent 2 billion kwacha (57,000 U.S. dollars) on logistics and other modalities, he said.
He announced that this year's guest of honor will be second Vice President of Burundi Madam Alice Nzomukunda.
He said the show is divided into three sections namely entertainment, commercial and agriculture and the commercial sector that will deal with companies' exhibitions will host 800 companies.
The agriculture sector will see a herd of about 200 cattle, an improvement from last year when a foot and mouth disease outbreak affected the number of cattle.
The entertainment sector will see the return of the Luna Park and various local bands performing. There will also be police, Air Force and army displays.
