Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and visiting Chinese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Wu Dawei agreed on Friday to promote the two countries' traditional friendship and expand the two countries cooperation in social, economic and technical fields.

Koirala met here Friday with Wu, who leading a 10-member delegation arrived here Thursday on a three-day visit to Nepal.

During the meeting, Wu said China and Nepal enjoy traditional friendship, adding that after the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two neighboring countries have made great progress in strengthening understanding and cooperation.

The Chinese government thanks Nepali government's one-China policy and never allowing any anti-China activities in Nepal's territory, Wu said.

As a friendly neighbor, China firmly pursue the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

"China highly respect the mode of development chosen by the Nepalese people, and have never interfered with the internal affairs of Nepal," Wu said.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to the traditional friendship relations between the two countries and sincerely wish to see Nepal realize peace, stability, development and national reconciliation, he noted.

"China will never change its policy for pushing mutual benefit cooperation towards Nepal irrespective of changes," Wu said.

Koirala expressed that Nepal firmly supports the one-China policy, opposes Taiwan's independence and will never allow any anti-China activities in Nepal's territory.

He said that Nepal will join hand with China to push Nepal- China friendly and cooperative relations forward.

Wu also held talks with other Nepali officials including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs K. P. Sharma Oli and Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat.

During the visit, an agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the two governments has been signed on Thursday.
