Unknown gunmen on Saturday killed two people, wounded two others and kidnapped two more in separate incidents in the volatile Diyala province in northeast Baghdad, a police source said.
Gunmen shot dead an Iraqi army soldier in the Maqdadiyah town, some 90 km north east of Baghdad, the source said on condition of anonymity.
In separate incident, gunmen opened fire at two brothers in south of Baquba, some 65 km northeast of Baghdad, killing one of them and wounding the other, the source said.
Meanwhile, gunmen kidnapped a man in the busy market of Baquba and seriously wounded another, while another local resident, Hassan Humoud, was also kidnapped in the city by a group of gunmen, he added.
Diyala province, a mixed Shiite and Sunni area which has long been a bastion of insurgency against the U.S.-led occupation and sectarian violence.
