Nepali political party leaders and experts welcomed UN's help in solving Nepal's crisis, The Himalayan Times reported on Sunday.
"We need help from experts of the international community. Thus, the UN's help to Nepal during the peace process will be welcome," Communist Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist leader Bhim Rawal was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
The UN hand in solving the crisis in Nepal should not be deemed negative, he added.
Sounding a similar note, Nepali Congress leader Romi Gauchan said the UN team's meetings with the government, the guerrillas and peace talk teams have been positive.
He also welcomed the guerrilla's top leader Prachanda's constructive remark on the UN's possible role in monitoring arms management.
Arms management is still two steps away from the ongoing efforts for peace building, according to him.
"I don't have any problem concerning the guerrillas joining the interim government but they should first be demobilized," Gauchan said, adding that the UN's focus should be on demobilizing both the Nepali Army and the guerrilla's militia before an interim government comes into effect.
Decommissioning of arms should be done prior to the election to a Constituent Assembly, he said at a program organized by the Reporters Club here on Saturday.
Murari Raj Sharma, coordinator of the Foreign Policy Review Task Force under the government, said the UN team's visit to Nepal was more of a political assessment than a fact-finding mission.
UN can help Nepal only after the government and the guerrillas reach a complete understanding on the issue of arms management, he noted.
