10 people injured in road mishap in central NepalAt least 10 persons were injured in a road mishap in central Nepal, local police office said on Sunday. "At least 10 people were injured on Saturday when their van met with an accident near the Balefi Bazaar of Sidhupalchok district, some 100 km northeast of Kathmandu," Sindhupalchok District Police Office said in a press statement. All occupants including the driver sustained injuries after the vehicle fell 50 feet below the road into the local Sunkoshi River on the Araniko Highway, the only highway which links the Nepali capital Kathmandu with China's Tibet Autonomous Region, the statement noted. The accident occurred as the driver tried to give way to a van coming from the opposite direction. Among the injured, nine of them are undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital of neighboring Kavre district while a 16-year- old boy was taken to Kathmandu for treatment. Source: Xinhua |
