11 killed in bus accident in northern Malaysia

A bus carrying 44 people overturned in northern Malaysia on Sunday, leaving 11 people killed and nine others seriously injuried, local media reported.

The accident occurred in the early morning when the chartered bus was traveling from Ipoh, capital of the Perak State, to Bukit Mertajam, a tourist destination in Malaysia's northern state of Pinang.

Local rescue officials said that 11 people were dead in the accident when the bus skidded, including two children.

All others on the bus were injured to different extent, including nine who were being treated at a nearby hospital due to serious injuries.
