Tokyo stocks continued to gain Monday morning as a flow of strong quarterly corporate earnings and industrial output data provided fresh evidence of Japan's economic recovery.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 166.58 points, or 1. 09 percent, in the morning to 15,509.45, a three-week intraday high.
The Tokyo Stock Price Index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 19.16 points, or 1.23 percent, to 1, 578.57.
