font size

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will attend an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to be held soon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to discuss the crisis in the Middle East, a senior minister said here on Monday.

"This is a high level meeting of the OIC in the wake of the military attacks on Palestine and Lebanon. The emergency summit is a joint response to the crisis," Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said.

The three-day meeting will be started on August 3 and representatives from 15 out of its 57 member countries will attend it, he said, adding that among them are Pakistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia and others.

The Minister disclosed that currently 12 countries already confirmed their participation in the meeting of the Islamic group.
