Up until the end of June, the registered urban unemployment population reached 8.33 million, a jobless rate of 4.2 percent, tied up with that of last year. This was according to the symposium of directors from the labor and social security offices or bureaus nation wide held on July 27th.
During the first six months, 6.08 million newly added employment posts have been given to the urban citizens, realizing 67 percent of the whole year's target. 2.36 million laid-off workers have regained employment, achieving 47 percent of the year's target. Among them, a total of 650,000 people struggling in their jobs search have been helped to find work opportunities, accounting for 65 percent of the year's target.
