Profits of non-ferrous, machine industry soar in first half this year

Profit of China's non-ferrous industry grew 86.5 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year, while that of the machinery industry increased 45.6 percent.

According to latest statistics issued by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the profit of non-ferrous industry hit 52.8 billion yuan (6.576 billion U.S. dollars), while that of machinery industry reached 127.8 billion yuan, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported Tuesday.

Meanwhile, profit of the metallurgy industry reached 62.8 billion yuan, 18.9 percent lower than the same period last year.

The machinery industry's output grew 21.6 percent to 640.9 billion yuan during the first half of the year. Coal, electric and petrochemical industries grew 13.3, 36.2 and 27.9 percent, with profits of 28.3, 48.9 and 218.4 billion yuan respectively.
