Bush approves export of 2-mln-pound graphite to China

U.S. President George W. Bush authorized on July 31 an export to China of two million pounds (about 907 tons) of graphite for manufacturing plastic products.

In a letter that day to leaders of both houses, Bush said he had made sure the export "is not detrimental to the United States space launch industry".
