Gold price higher in Hong Kong -- Aug. 2

The gold price in Hong Kong surged 145 HK dollars to 5,977 HK dollars per tael on Wednesday, according to Bank of China (Hong Kong).

The price is equivalent to 646.21 U.S. dollars a troy ounce, up 15.8 U.S. dollars at Wednesday's exchange rate of one U.S. dollar against 7.764 HK dollars.
