At least two people have died of Meningitis and Encephalitis in eastern Nepal, local hospital confirmed in Kathmandu Thursday.
"At least two persons died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the Koshi Zonal Hospital (KZH) at Biratnagar city of Morang district, some 400 km east of Kathmandu," the government- run hospital KZH said in a press statement.
The two dead were a two-year-old boy and a 50-year-old woman.
"The child died of Encephalitis while the other died of Meningitis," the statement noted, adding "A total of 30 children, between the age two and 12, have been admitted at the hospital."
Meanwhile, 584,395 persons were immunized in the course of the campaign against Japanese Encephalitis in a district of far- western Nepal
"Out of total immunized in July in Kailali district, some 800 km west of Kathmandu, 267,000 were 1-15 years of age and 316,000 were aged beyond 15," local Kailali District Public Health Office said in a press statement.
