Malaysia stock market closes higher

The key indices of the Malaysian stock market closed higher here on Friday upon last- minute institutional support for blue-chips.

The 100-quality stock Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI), which opened at 935.09, ended the day 2.70 points higher to 937.99.

The Second Board Index rose 0.10 point to 90.10 and the Industrial Index was 5.83 points higher at 1,958.25.

The Emas increased by 13.57 points to 6,088.90.

Gainers led losers by 354 to 296, with 366 counters unchanged and 416 untraded.

Turnover fell to 436.87 million shares worth 707.32 million ringgit (191.17 million U.S. dollars) from 550.44 million shares worth 736.19 million ringgit (198.97 million U.S. dollars) on Thursday.
