SAA resumes flights to Hong Kong

South African Airways (SAA) Friday resumed Friday its flights between Johannesburg and Hong Kong after they were canceled the previous day as a result of typhoon hitting Hong Kong and surrounding areas.

A statement issued by SAA said that it received information that the weather is clearing and aircraft will now be permitted to land in Hong Kong on arrival.

SA286 from Johannesburg departed as scheduled at 16:35 on Friday, arriving in Hong Kong at 12:05 on Saturday. SAA's scheduled flight out of Johannesburg to Hong Kong on Saturday will also operate as normal.

The bad weather has forced SAA to divert its flight that departed from Johannesburg to Hong Kong on Wednesday to Bangkok. This aircraft is scheduled to depart from Bangkok for Hong Kong on Saturday.

The return flight, which would have departed Hong Kong on Thursday, will be rescheduled as SA9287 and depart on Saturday and arrive in Johannesburg the same day.
