Indonesia contributes 43 pct to global CPO production

Global crude palm oil (CPO) production is projected to increase by 8 percent to 36.5 million tons this year, with Indonesia contributing some 43 percent, an executive said Friday.

Malaysia, the world's largest CPO producer, will share 43.3 percent of global CPO production, said Julie Syaftari, director of Indonesia's leading plantation firm Astra Agro Lestari.

National CPO production has been projected to increase by 12 percent to 15.7 million tons in 2006 from the previous year.
