Pakistani gas pipelines damaged in explosion
font size

Two gas pipelines were damaged in explosions in southwestern Pakistan's Baluchistan early Saturday, making gas supply to several cities in eastern province Punjab suspended, the private GEO Television reported.

The explosion occurred near Doli check post in Sui, some 285 km southwest of Quetta, the provincial capital of Baluchistan, at about 4:00 a.m., GEO reported.

Authorities have cordoned off the area in order to investigate into the incident, and a bomb disposal squad team was called to ascertain the nature of the explosion, according to the report.

In Baluchistan's Dera Bughti district and adjoining areas especially Sui, a border town with Punjab province to its east and Sindh province to its north, gas pipelines and electricity lines easily fell into victim of attacks launched by anti-government tribal militants, making the gas and power supply to the region affected.
