Israeli attacks on Lebanon may breed new terrorists: Kuwaiti PM
font size

The Kuwaiti prime minister has warned that Israeli attacks on Lebanon could breed "new terrorists " and further complicate the security situation in the Middle East, the Kuwait Times reported on Sunday.

Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah was quoted as telling the Egyptian magazine El-Mussawar Saturday that he feared Lebanon would become "another Iraq," which he believed has become a home for "organized terror."

The killing and destruction by Israeli forces in Lebanon are " unprecedented," he said, "and I believe that if this Israeli war on Lebanon goes on, it could contribute to creating new terrorists, and that of course would pose a new danger in the area."

Sheikh Nasser said that political solutions have to be reached so that "no other parties enter the battlefield and expand the war regionally."

Kuwait has joined Jordan and Arab powerhouses Egypt and Saudi Arabia in criticizing Lebanese Hezbollah for touching off the Israeli attacks which have destroyed Lebanon's infrastructure, killed hundreds of Lebanese citizens and displaced one-fourth of the population.

Meanwhile, scores of Israelis have been killed in Hezbollah rocket attacks and fighting in southern Lebanon.
