China, ROK pledge closer navy exchanges
font size

Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met with Navy Chief of Staff of Republic of Korea (ROK) Nam Haeil on Monday in Beijing.

Cao, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, said the sound and smooth development of China-ROK relations is of great importance in maintaining regional peace, stability and prosperity, as well as the development of both countries.

The bilateral military relations have developed steadily under the joint efforts of the two countries, said Cao, hoping that the two sides will continue to enhance cooperation to boost the military ties.

Nam Haeil said the ROK and China, sharing common interests in maintaining regional peace and stability, should cement exchanges between the two militaries, especially the two navies.

Nam Haeil kicked off his visit to Beijing on Saturday as guest of the navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
