"New Silk Road" to be freeway
font size

A freeway, a section of "New Silk Road", connecting Lake Sailimu in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region with Huoerguosi Port and passing Guozigou Col, will start to be constructed on August 8th, 2006.

It is expected that the section of the high-grade highway in Xinjiang will complete construction in the second half year of 2010, which means that the transport corridor linking China's six eastern provinces will be accelerated once again.

The freeway from Lake Sailimu to Huoerguosi Port has a length of 106.3 kilometers, which needs the total budget of 3.3 billion Yuan for the preliminary design.

"New Silk Road" is a modern road network that links Chinese hinterland with the industrial centers of Western Europe, among which the trunk road in Chinese churchyard from eastern Lianyungang in Jiangsu Province to western Huoerguosi Port in Xinjiang has a length of 4,395 kilometers.
