Australia's unemployment rate decreased 0.1 of a percentage point to 4.8 percent in July due to an increase in number of people in work, according to official figures released Thursday.
This is a generational low for Australia's unemployment rate.
The total number of people in work increased 50,000 to almost 10.25 million during July, figures of the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed.
Full-time employment increased by 27,100 to 7,305,300 and part- time employment increased by 23,600 to 2,942,300.
Meanwhile, the number of people without work dipped 14,100 to 513,900.
The number of people looking for full-time work shed 8,200 to 362,200 and the number of persons looking for part-time work decreased by 5,900 to 151,700.
The figures also showed that the male unemployment rate decreased marginally to 4.7 percent and the female unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 4.8 percent.
Among the states and territories, Tasmania has the highest unemployment rate of 6.1 percent and the Australian Capital Territory the lowest of 2.8 percent.
