On August 9, the Airport Line of Beijing Metro entered the phase of construction and will begin its operation due on April 1 2006.

Reportedly, a tunnel boring machine went underground on August 9th and will undergo test operation for about 10 days beneath a part of the Airport Line. Starting from August 18th, all the tunnel boring machines will dig the tunnels of Airport Line in top gear. The tunnels in this phase of construction run for 4,102 meters in total and will be completed by the end of October of 2007.
