A Kuwaiti citizen was detained at Frankfurt International Airport for a few hours on Thursday for carrying doubtful materials, Kuwaiti newspaper Arab Times reported on Friday.
On his way from the Czech Republic to Kuwait on a Kuwait Airways flight, the Kuwaiti was carrying a bag containing several empty hand bomb shells, five daggers, a sword, and some face masks which were discovered through the security system at the airport, Kuwaiti security sources was quoted as saying.
Sources added that the airport authorities asked the pilot to offload the passengers which led to the identification of the owner of these materials.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted that he owned the bag, explaining that he bought these materials from Czech for his personal use and had no other intentions.
The German security authorities contacted their Kuwaiti counterparts to check on the identity of the suspect. Upon finding that the suspect has no security record, the German authorities allowed him to travel on to Kuwait.
When the suspect arrived in Kuwait airport, the Kuwaiti security questioned him about the dangerous materials before he was released, according to the paper.
