font size

A delegation from the U.S. Senate left here Saturday, concluding its six-day official visit to China.

The U.S. delegation, invited by Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, is led by Ted Stevens, acting president of the U.S. Senate, and Senator Daniel K. Inouye.

The delegation held their third annual meeting with the National People's Congress (NPC), China's legislative body.

Chinese president Hu Jintao met with the delegation on Saturday and Wu held talks with them on Friday. The two sides exchanged views on the bilateral relations, Taiwan, bilateral trade and other regional and international issues of common concern.

The NPC and the U.S. Senate set up a regular meeting mechanism in 2004 and have already held meetings in Beijing and Washington D.C.
