Dollar rises to upper 115 yen level in Tokyo

The U.S. dollar rose to the upper 115 yen level Friday in Tokyo partly on the release of Japan's weaker-than-expected gross domestic product data for the April- June quarter.

At 5 p.m., the dollar was quoted at 115.68-70 yen, compared with its 5 p.m. Thursday quotes of 115.21-31 yen in New York and 114.89-92 yen in Tokyo.

It moved between 115.13 yen and 115.83 yen in the day, trading most frequently at 115.35 yen.

The euro was quoted at 1.2783-2785 dollars and 147.88-92 yen, against its 5 p.m. quotes the previous day of 1.2789-2799 dollars and 147.43-53 yen in New York and 1.2855-2858 dollars and 147.72- 76 yen in Tokyo.
