Australian dollar slips

The Australian dollar closed lower at 76.80 U.S. cents Friday compared with Thursday's close of 77.12.

During the day, the currency reached a low of 76.68 U.S. cents and a high of 77.02.

It finished at 88.89 yen, up from Thursday's close of 88.73 yen and at 60.13 euro cents from 59.79.
