A counterfeit credit card crime was jointly crushed by Hong Kong and Canadian police recently and a man related with the crime was arrested, Hong Kong police said on Monday.
Hong Kong police received a report from a delivery company on July 21 that a parcel destined for Toronto from the Chinese mainland via Hong Kong was intercepted after suspicious elements were found, the police said.
Investigations revealed that a total of 132 partially completed counterfeit credit cards were concealed inside nine cans of Chinese tea, according to the report.
Hong Kong police contacted their counterparts in Canada and arrested a 21-year-old man who accepted the parcel in Toronto on July 29, the police said, adding that the man will be charged on September 11.
