Car sales in Indonesia fell by 50. 31 percent to 171,525 units in the first seven months of 2006 from 345,166 units in the corresponding period last year, the industry association announced Monday.
July sees the lowest selling of only 21,891 units against 24, 564 in the previous month, or the average monthly sales of 24,503 units, according to the data released by the Indonesian Automotive Industries Association (Gaikindo).
The country's largest auto firm, PT Astra International, controls 49 percent of the market share in July by selling 10,781 units.
Toyota cars, sold here under Astra, topped the July sales with 7,652 units, trailed by Suzuki with 4,048 units, Mitsubishi with 2, 793 units, Daihatsu with 2,790 units, Honda with 2,400 units and Isuzu with 1,206 units.
