Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said summit talks with guerrilla top leader Prachanda will be held after the United Nations (UN) team in 10-12 days.
According to Thursday's The Himalayan Times report, talking to reporters in his hometown, Biratnagar on Wednesday, Koirala said the peace process will move forward only after the arms management issue is resolved.
"A UN team will arrive here within 10 to 12 days. After that peace process will restart and the summit talks will be held," he was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
While the guerrillas depend on weapons as their source of power, the parliament is the source of power for the government. The House of Representatives cannot be dissolved unless guerrillas' arms are managed, Koirala said.
He added that the guerrillas could not be involved in the government at any cost unless weapons remain in their hands.
He revealed that the arms management issue was delaying the peace process and the drafting of interim constitution.
Koirala arrived in his hometown Biratnagar in eastern Nepal, some 400 km east of Kathmandu, three days earlier to take rest.
