Singapore on Thursday launched a guide on Best Practices on Infocomm Technology (IT) Implementation for local companies.
"This guide aims to provide step-by-step directions, as well as tips on how companies including SMEs (small and medium- sized enterprises) can adopt, leverage on and derive the maximum benefits from infocomm," said Vivian Balakrishnan, Second Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts at a local infocomm commerce conference.
The guide has taken into consideration companies' different infocomm needs based on their business nature and scale of operations, added Balakrishnan, who is also Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports.
The guide is jointly developed by the Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board of Singapore and the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation.
The minister encouraged local enterprises to invest more in infocomm to "achieve the much needed competitive edge in the increasingly global business and rapidly changing environment."
Currently, about 75 percent of businesses in Singapore use infocomm appliances and the internet while slightly more than half of them make use of broadband, the latest survey conducted by Singapore's Infocomm Development Authority showed.
