Dollar hovers around 116 yen in Tokyo

The U.S. dollar moved around the 116 yen line Friday in Tokyo, while the euro briefly hit a record high against the yen.

At 5:00 p.m., the dollar traded at 116.02-05 yen, compared with its 5:00 p.m. Thursday quotes of 115.93-116.03 yen in New York and 115.30-33 yen in Tokyo.

It traded between 115.81 yen and 116.09 yen during the day, most heavily at 116.02 yen.

The euro was quoted at 1.2826-2829 dollars and 148.82-86 yen, against its 5:00 p.m. quotes the previous day of 1.2823-2833 dollars and 148.70-80 yen in New York and 1.2868-2871 dollars and 148.40-44 yen in Tokyo. It briefly climbed to an all-time high of 148.90 yen in the morning.
