One Palestinian was killed and three wounded early Sunday after an Israeli force opened fire at some Palestinian cars near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian medical sources said.
Israeli troops at Hawarra Checkpoint near Nablus opened fire at several cars, killing one and wounding three Palestinians traveling in one of the cars.
Jalal Deireyeh, 24, from the village of Deir el-Hattab near Nablus, was killed and three others injured, with two of them in moderate conditions.
Deireyeh was taken by an Israeli ambulance to an Israeli hospital but died on the way, and the three wounded were evacuated to a Palestinian hospital.
An Israeli army spokesman told Israel Radio that the army had decided to look into the incident.
