Miscreants attack Nepali main party chief's house in Kathmandu

A group of people tried to vandalize the house of Madhav Kumar Nepal, general secretary of the Communist Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist in Kathmandu, a local website reported on Sunday.

"A group of around 40 people pelted stones and bricks smashing seven windowpanes of Nepal's residence while chanting slogans against Nepali government and democracy," ekantipur.com quoting a member of Nepal's family as saying.

They were also talking about burning down the house and made failed attempts to break the main gate to enter the house premises Saturday evening, eyewitnesses said.

Nepal was inside his house during the attack. Police rushed to the scene after Nepal's family called police to control the situation. The miscreants ran away after police arrived.

Police have been guarding the house following the incident, the website reported.

Meanwhile, denouncing the attack, the party urged the government to take immediate measures to maintain law and order and take action against the guilty. The party is one of the main allies of the present government.
