Singapore's PM meets U.S. Trade Representative

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong met with visiting U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab Wednesday afternoon, Channel NewsAsia report said at night.

They discussed trade liberalization and possible ways to push forward the World Trade Organization Doha Round of negotiations, the report said, adding that Schwab also expressed the United States' keen interest in promoting trade linkages with members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

This is Schwab's first visit to Singapore as the U.S. Trade Representative. She will proceed to Kuala Lumpur to attend the ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting.

ASEAN groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
