Hydro-electricity investment fair concludes in NepalThe Hydro-Electricity Investment Fair aimed at attracting domestic and foreign investments in the hydro-electricity development concluded here on Wednesday, local media reported Thursday. "Discussion was held on different topics such as electricity development policies, power purchase arrangement in government- owned Nepal Electricity Authority, management of investment in hydro-electricity and small-scale hydro-electricity projects in the fair," state-run Radio Nepal reported. Various governmental and private financial companies, insurance companies related to hydro-electricity and manufacturers of hydro- electricity appliances, construction companies and entrepreneurs participated in the three-day fair. Altogether 20 policy makers and investors from India, Britain, Germany and Switzerland participated in the event. Although Nepal has the potentiality of 42,000 MW of hydro- electricity from economic point of view, hardly 2 percent, or about 614 MW is produced which poses load shedding to the Nepalese.
