U.S. stocks end mixed

U.S. stocks ended mixed with a narrow change range on Friday as Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke gave no clues on further rate policy.

In the closing trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 20.41, or 0.18 percent, to 11,284.05. The Standard & Poor's 500 index slipped 0.97, or 0.08 percent, to 1,295.09, and the Nasdaq composite rose 3.18, or 0.15 percent, to 2,140.29.

For the week, the Dow ended down 0.86 percent, the Nasdaq fell 1.09 percent, and the S&P 500 dropped 0.55 percent.

Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke warned U.S. policymakers on Friday against taking protectionist measures that would hurt global economic integration. Investors failed to seek some clues on further rate policy outlook.

Meanwhile, the sluggish economic data released this week kindled investor's worry over the economy growth, but depressed the possibility of inflation and further rate hike at the same time.

World crude oil prices rose slightly Friday amid concern over the coming tropical storm threatened to sweep through the Gulf of Mexico next week.
