Malaysia stock market closes higher

The key indices of Malaysia stock market closed higher Friday with follow-through buying encouraged by some strong corporate results.

At the closing, the Composite Index expanded 2.39 points to 950. 52, after opening higher by 0.77 of a point at 948.90.

The Second Board Index increased 0.36 of a point to 84.25, the Industrial Index rose 5.04 points to 2,004.24, and the Mesdaq Index added 0.58 of a point to 111.15.

Gainers outnumbered losers 420 to 260 while 348 counters traded unchanged.

Volume expanded to 410.27 million shares valued at 619.88 million ringgit (167.53 million U.S. dollars) from 353.26 million shares valued at 480.81 million ringgit (129.95 million U.S. dollars) on Thursday.
