Hong Kong Police's initial investigations suggested the attack on lawmaker Albert Ho may relate to his legal work, Commissioner of Police Dick Lee said here Saturday, adding any law-defying acts should by no means be tolerated.
Speaking on a radio talk shows Saturday morning, Lee said inquiries by the police revealed the four suspect assailants were all wearing black color caps at the time of the incident.
Ho, a member of the HK Legislative Council, was allegedly attacked by four men in a crowded McDonald's restaurant in Central on Aug. 20. Suffering injuries to his head, mouth and nose, Ho was sent to Queen Mary Hospital for medical treatment and was discharged on Aug. 24.
The police had investigated the case and the Identi-Kit sketches of two assailants were issued on Friday.
Lee called on people who have information on the identity or whereabouts of the four assailants to contact the police.
Noting the Olympic equestrian events will be held here in 2008 and the East Asian Games in 2009, he pointed out Hong Kong has ample experience in staging large-scale international events and that Police are capable of handling them.
