China's defense industry should seek more international cooperation, said Vice Premier Huang Ju here on Monday.

The defense industry was of strategic significance and an important part in China's opening up and international cooperation, said Huang in a letter to a work conference on international cooperation in the field.

The 11th Five-Year Program period (2006-2010) was a crucial period for China's reform and opening up and also an important period for its defense industry to deepen reform, said Huang in the letter.

Huang urged the whole sector to upgrade and improve the level of opening up and international cooperation.
